Homework

The children receive homework and they regularly take home reading books. Our hope is that the home will collaborate and encourage the children to do the work.

From time to time, a particular activity will demand the knowledge of relatives, neighbours and parents, or for the child to make enquiries and carry out investigative work. There is recognition that the child is the home’s responsibility during these hours and that parents willingness or unwillingness to co-operate will be in light of that responsibility.

Occasionally, a teacher may ask a child to do additional work so as to eliminate a weakness or focus on a particular aspect of work. On such occasions, hopefully the home will fully co-operate and encourage the child to do the work.

When setting homework, the school will consider the child’s needs in accordance with his/her age-group, abilility and requirements.
